The best, lightest, most maneuverable Caboose yet! The Caboose Ultralight is so compact, maneuverable, and lightweight you might forget that it’s a tandem stroller. At a mere 21 pounds, the Caboose Ultralight is 20% more lightweight than the original model and far lighter than most double strollers. The Ultralight is also ultra-maneuverable because it has sealed ball bearing wheels (if that doesn’t mean anything to you; it is faster and smoother. Think rollerblades and skateboards). Moms and dads will really love the neoprene Cool Essentials Parent Organizer too. It has plenty of room to store your keys, cell phone, etc. and the cup holder will help keep your drinks cool. The deluxe sun canopy will offer more protection for your children on sunny days out. Your life, our strollers, and the new arrival has made a good thing even better!

Features

  • Aluminum doublestroller, front seat, back standing platform & padded seat, universal carseat adapter

  1. Mum of 2 on November 9th, 2007 at 12:00 am

I have a 7 week old and a 2.5 yo and bought the Joovy Caboose Ultralight in Sage Green a few weeks ago. I cannot say enough WONDEREFUL things about it! We didn’t want a dual stroller since they are huge and my daughter really likes to walk, but I wanted a place for her to rest when she needed a break (or when I needed her to sit).

The Ultralight is better than the regular Caboose – it’s lighter, has a bigger and higher canopy (for taller kids), has better wheels, includes the parent organizer, and the jump seat can be secured. We have used the stroller many times (zoo, mall, 3 mile walks etc) and LOVE it. It pushes along so smoothly (like the description says, it’s as smooth as Rollerblades), which means it maneuvers like a dream, which is great when you need to push with one arm. My 2.5 yo enjoys standing and sitting on the back. It is SO easy to fold and lift, and is quite compact considering it’s for 2 kids. Also, we’re tall people (I’m 5’10”, hubby is 6’2”) and the handles are so comfortable and we don’t kick the stroller when walking. Opening and closing is very easy and it’s quite light, so lifting it into the back of my SUV isn’t a problem. The Ultrlight is built with more height clearance and will accommodate taller children – my 2.5 yo is almost 40” and she will be able to use this stroller for years to come. I am extremely impressed with this stroller and would highly recommend it!

The only downsides are when using the infant car seat, the canopy cannot be used and the basket area is a little hard to get to, but the benefits far far out way those things.

When we go places, we don’t rent a stroller/wagon, and we like to walk, so wanted a really decent one that was durable and practical. I did a lot of research on strollers before I decided on the Ultralight, and although the Baby Trend and others may be cheaper and will do a similar job, the ease of use, the durability, the little extras (taller handles, larger canopy, ball bearings etc), the comfort, and the fact that it accommodates taller kids is worth the extra money.

The great things about this stroller are that it offers a smooth ride and is easy to fold/unfold. It is lightweight, and is very practical with the included parent organizer. However, I had problems with fidig a carseat that ould fit it nicely with out imposing on the soace of my toddler. We tried three carseats (those recommended by the manufacturer included) out in the store with the toddler sitting on the bench and he would not have enough room to sit comfortably (His head was uncomfortable and his back was too). Too bad, I would really have liked it. Also, I drive a midsized sedan and in order to fit it in the truck I had to remove the car seat attachment, not a big deal though.

  3. One Mean Puppy on March 4th, 2008 at 12:00 am

With two kids, two and under, I use this stroller a lot. My evermore independent two-year-old loves having the option of sitting or standing – and I love that I can restrain him in the sitting position and that he can get in his own spot while I buckle in the baby.

One thing that was very important to me was weight – this stroller weighs about the same as my single stroller (a Graco Metrolite). It “drives” easily and has a large enough canopy to cover both of my kids.

It is pretty long when folded, but fits fine in our minivan – it would be a tight squeeze in a sedan’s trunk.

  4. NJCityMom on March 11th, 2008 at 12:00 am

i have 2 kids – a 4 month old and a 2.5 year old. i still need to use the car seat for the little one which means the older one can’t sit! but luckily he’s still excited that he can stand on the stroller. also, not a good option if they want to sleep. i tie a long scarf at the back between the handles so the older one can lean his head on that. kind of a ghetto look but it works! but the stroller still has almost everything i was looking for – a compact, light double stroller that’s easy to use in a big city. i’m satisfied that i got the best option out there.

  5. J & J'S Mommy on March 12th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I purchased this when I was pregnant with my second child. With an infant girl and a 3-year old boy and this stroller made shopping, walks and errands a breeze!
Although one reviewer stated you couldn’t use the canopy with the carseat, I had no problem using mine while the carseat was in place. It goes back and forth easily and removes if you need it to (I usually remove it when we go to malls or other indoor places.)
Now that out little girl is out of her Safe Seat, we popped on the snack tray and she’s in front (5-point harness) like a big girl and our son walks, stands or sits (3-point) whenever he chooses. Taking the carseat attachment off will make the stroller much shorter when folded if you’re worried about stowing it in the car, but it’s so easy to take on & off it really shoudn’t deter you from buying it!
Everytime we go out at least 2 or 3 people ask where I bought it…they all think it’s so smart and I tell them…IT IS!

  6. Gina, Stroller Junkie on April 1st, 2008 at 12:00 am

I really like this stroller. It is lightweight but durable, compact but enough room for my two children. My son is 11-months, 32 pounds and sits up front. My daughter is 2.5 years old, 30 pounds and sits on the bench seat. The canopy is large enough for both of them and the parent organizer is helpful for my keys and snacks. Fountain and hot drinks DO NOT work with the parent organizer. Water bottles, sippy cups and cell phones fit great. The stroller folds nicely, easy to unfold and doesn’t break your back lifting it. (It does require two hands). It is easy to push and steer, just like a single stroller. In fact, many times it feels like a single stroller. I get a lot of compliments from other parents. The cons are the basket storage space and child’s tray. The basket is small and hard to access. I ditched my large diaper bag and now use my daughter’s small back pack. I have to shove my Ergo carrier in the basket through the side. The child tray is very hard for me to take off, so I pull my big baby over the tray. Most of the time his feet catch the tray and I pull my back but this is still better than anything else I have found. The tray is study and easy to clean and in constant use. The front seat does not fully recline so if either child is tired no one is able to lay flat. The fabric is easy to spot clean. I would recommend this stroller to anyone with two or more children. My friends children enjoy riding in the bench seat. This is my THIRD duo stroller. I also have a Graco Duoglider, Wooper Tango side by side (very nice but wide) and this one. The Joovy Caboose is the only stroller I use, even when I only have one child. I also have a Graco Single Deluxe and Chicco Single and a couple of other single that cost about [$] each. In total I have spent [$] looking for the best stroller and this is it! We are a family that is constantly out and this stroller is used almost daily at the zoo, amusement parks, shopping malls and parks. This is my last stroller!

  7. Kristie on April 11th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I have a three and a half year old and a five month old. This stroller has worked out so well for us. When my older child wants to sit she can, but she can also stand like a “big girl.” It is the lightest double stroller I’ve found and is easy to maneuver in tight spaces, at the mall, etc. I wish there was a little more storage, but the storage below is easily accessible. The parent organizer is a must.

  8. 2 is the perfect number on April 21st, 2008 at 12:00 am

I purchased this product for my 3 year old and newborn because I knew that my 3 year old would be jealous and want to be in the stroller when the baby was in. It works out great because my toddler likes to stand and ride while the infant carrier is installed. It is a bit of a tough fit for my toddler to sit when the carrier is in because the main seat needs to be reclined so it may not work for everyone. […]It works because the seat slides out, but it is a bit of a tough fit until the baby is out of the carrier. I have a Graco safe seat and it fits fine. The canopy also covers the infant seat in conjunction with the infant seat canopy just fine. On the downside, I miss the ease of snapping in the carseat like with a Graco travel system. Because Joovy does not make car seats this is built to accept several brands (see the joovy website to make sure yours is compatable). It has straps that secure the seat and can be a pain if you are in a hurry because the seat can be “in” and not in correct. My husband HATES this feature because he never gets it in right the first time. We adjusted the straps so that the seat can only be installed in the correct position in order to snap the straps. The basket is not the greatest for storage if a child is sitting in the back, but is still functional. Also, this thing is HUGE folded up so if you have a small car, good luck. On the plus side, it has a good turning radius, it is lightweight so it is easy to lift in and out and easy to fold. Also, if my toddler is not using the seat, it is great for storage/shopping. Ours came with the parent organizer free and it is great for holding small stuff and drinks. Without this accessory, there is no place to put keys/drinks, etc… on the stroller except for the basket which may not be readily accessible. Overll, I am pleased and I would definetly buy again.

  9. Jen mom of 3 on May 1st, 2008 at 12:00 am

This stroller was the best gift I have gotten! It is super light and easy to push, even one-handed! Our infant carseat fits perfect with the attachment and our 2 year old sits well on the bench in the back. This stroller is ideal for those with 2 small children who don’t want to push around those huge double strollers!

  10. Mommy to 2 on July 5th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I absolutely love this stroller. I have a 2 year old and a 3 month old and this stroller works well for both of them. I have plenty of room to put everything I need to haul around. My 2 year old likes that she can hop on and off when she wants, but there is also a seatbelt so I can strap her in when I need her to be still. It’s soooo lightweight compared to every other double stroller out there. I have nothing negative to say about it.

  11. Grandma E. on September 9th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I ordered this stroller via the internet […]. I have grandchildren, ages 6 and 4. I bought it for taking to Disneyland, and I have to say it’s easy to open and close and lift onto tram. My 6 year old is a little guy so he fits perfectly in caboose seat and loves it!

  12. Mommy of Two on September 23rd, 2008 at 12:00 am

I use this stroller everywhere. I have a 2 1/2 year old girl and a ten week old little girl and my eldest daughter loves to ride in the stroller. It use to be such a struggle for me to get her to ride in a stroller now all I have to do is open the stroller and she just gets in and takes a ride. It is helpful at the museums, zoo and shopping. I love this stroller.

  13. Leias Mom!!!!!!!!! on February 16th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I at first had a baby trend sit n stand and it is much heavier and harder to push and it just seriously sucked….lol…. my front tray broke and because it was past the 6 month warranty baby trend wouldnt let me just purchase the tray over the phone…. I had to print an invoice, send it and a money order and then recieve the tray once they recieved the payment…. I have heard other stories of difficulty with customer service with baby trend…. but so far I LOVE JOOVY ane this stroller….. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!! I went the cheap route at first and a year later I bought this…. I wish I wouldve saved the money I WASTED on baby trend and just got this first…. oh well….. smooth riding from here on out: ) Thanks joovy: )

  14. mom of two on March 17th, 2009 at 12:00 am

We bought this stroller after a long reaserch on line and in stores. From all we have seen this is the perfect match, very light, easy to fold, great style and perfect for my two kids (son 3 1/2yrs and 3mnth daughter) the stroller is ideal for runarounds, my son loves riding in the back faceing his little sister in the carseat at the front. We even manage to get on the bus, the stroller perfectly folds down and light enough to cary in one hand. Great Great match. Loven it!!!!!

  15. busy mom on March 24th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I love this stroller. I have an 11 month old and a 25 month old. I have a Graco Duoglider, but have never used it because it is just to big and bulky. Paid the extra for the ‘ultralight’ version, and it is everything they claim – lightweight, easy to fold/unfold, maneuverable, compact when folded. My 11 month old is comfy in the front, and my toddler loves to ride on the back. He likes to walk mostly, so I just needed the option of strapping him in when needed. If you have a squirmy toddler, though, the straps/seat may not contain him/her. Others have complained about the basket, but I find it fine. I usually have a backpack with me anyway, for essentials. I would highly recomend this double stroller!

  16. Ava's Mommy on March 27th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I just bought this stroller yesturday and I think it is GREAT! It was really easy to put together. My daughter loves that she can sit and stand. It is very light weight and folds very easily. I would recommend this stroller for fist time mothers! I regret buying my oversized travel system! I spent over 2 hundred dollars 2 years ago and then I had to buy this one for baby #2. You will save $$$ just buy this one frist!

  17. Linda717 on April 17th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I loved this product when my daughter was first born and my son was 22 months. It was the only smaller double stroller which could take the car seat, and my son liked his “big boy” chair better than his stroller. We’ve now had to stop using it, because my son has figured out how to push the wheels in the seat, so when I pause while shopping, if I don’t put on the breaks, he’s down the hall within seconds! He’s also in his 2 year old tantrum phase, and it’s difficult to get him in the chair when he doesn’t want to go, and he also drags his feet on the floor when we’re trying to move. I think overall this is a great stroller, it just depends on the personality of your older child!

  18. The mom on the go on May 4th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I love this stroller! It is very easy to handle and holds both of my children easily! (2 months and 3 1/2 years)

  19. Cool Dad on June 22nd, 2009 at 12:00 am

I ordered this after some careful research, and was able to utilize the extra 15% off coupon ( google Babysrus Coupon and it will show all available coupons..Don’t try to double stack coupons, as it will not work).

The Stroller is the same green as advertised. I originally wanted the orange one, but the sunset color was a little too “off orange” for me. Glad i chose the green.

Pros: -Relatively easy to put together
    -shipped nicely, and protected
-Looks better than the other tandems
-Compact..fits in our small Infiniti Fx
back trunk horizontally, but leaves little room..so everything has to go on top of it. Once again, The FX35 trunk space is small and awkward shaped to begin with.
-Stylish-Got lots of Looks and questions at the Zoo. Our first day out with it, a dozen moms came up to ask me about it!
-free neoprene carrying attachment that holds and insulates too drinks, keys, and misc.
    -Back seat slides for adjustment.
    -relatively light weight
-beautiful design…has stowable pouches for the baby seat straps. Not sure why they made it red and not Black! On a green stroller, looks a little off…imo.
-smooth ride, sealed bearings. Good footlocks. Took awhile to get use to difference in maneuvarability between a tandem and single. Although, not perfect, still acceptable.
    -reccomended car seats fits perfectly!

Cons: -Front end heavy with baby seat in front. Be very careful going up on/off curbs or pothole ridden city sidewalks like mine. On, three occasions, the stroller hit the crack or curb, and since it’s so top heavy when there is no kid in the back, it almost went end over end. So i got used to it, and used the foot stand to go over curbs, and slowing down a little has helped too.
-Spend for the ultralight..as you get more stuff (larger covering, free pouch, just looks better) and the difference in weight matters.I’m really strong, but it has an awkward weight to it when you lift it in/out of a higher trunk like an SUV. Maybe a car’s trunk would be easier…not sure. But remember, this is a tandem, so still better than it’s competitors. Just don’t be fooled that you are going to be picking this thing up with one hand and a baby in you other arm. It’s not gonna happen without a hernia or throwing out your back. Trust me, i thought about it for a moment, but realized it was worth using two hands.
-Could be a little longer, as when the baby seat is in the suggested position, that means the front seat has to be reclined, therefore the sitting area for the second child is kinda cramped! Even though you can adjust the back sliding seat..it’s still tight, and my second child is small, she’s only in the 5% percentile. I couldn’t imagine if my child was of normal height and weight. To be honest, although you are not suppose to do this, i put the front seat in it’s upright position, and i have tons of room for her. Once again, this is off label, and NO, this didn’t make it more top heavy! because i tried it both ways, and had the same issue.
-Storing compartment below is a little small, but you be suprised at the amount of other areas you can put stuff on this stroller. I put a small lunch cooler up front using the leg stand in it’s horizontal position as a table.
-might be a little bulky to take on plane rides, but definitely doable compared to other models which i wouldn’t even think about.

Overall, i love this thing, and i’m hard to impress. HIghly recommended, for now. I will do a F/U in 3 months. Love taking my two girls out more now with the summer season and my 2 yr old loves hoping on, off, standing, sitting, at her convenience. What a big girl she is now!!

    Good luck everyone!

  20. Eric on June 23rd, 2009 at 12:00 am

We are using this to transport our newborn and three year old sister. The “big sister seat” in the back is comfortable, half the time she’s sitting and the other half the time she’s standing. As a carseat carrier, it also works well for the newborn. It is very light and easy to stroll, excellent in this regard.

I’d give five stars, except for the latch that holds it in the closed position. That is a minor nit-pick, maybe my problem (and not the stroller). I forget to latch it, or it’s coming undone during transport.

I thought I would not like the drink holder / storage compartment, but it’s actually much more usable than what we had on our “pricey” single stroller.

This is a bit “longer” than a single stroller when folded (at least, the single stroller we had been using). I need to angle it into and out of the back of our Jeep. If you have a small trunk, you may want to go in-store to measure it folded or do a test fit before buying.

Assembly was not complicated, no tools required and everything snapped/clipped into place. They even give extra clips/washers for the axle/wheel. We didn’t need them, but that’s a nice touch.

  21. jmacmomma on June 25th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I have two children, 2 AND 4, and it is perfect for them. it maneuvers like a single stroller, and is so lightweight and easy to throw in the car! also… the parent organizer that come with is is perfect… a lot of time i don even have to bring a big bag with me because of it… it exceeded my expectations!

  22. Mama Mary on June 26th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I was hesitant to buy this stroller after reading some reviews about adequate space for toddlers in the back. We found that the stroller works just fine with our Chicco carseat in the front and our 2 year-old in the back. We introduced the new stroller to him from the package and let him help daddy put it together. We then instantly grabbed the carseat and put it in the front. He never knew that sitting in the front was an option for him so we never had any problems with getting him to ride.

The stroller moves well and is very lightweight. We are very happy with this stroller!

  23. Cynthia on a budget on June 29th, 2009 at 12:00 am

This is a great stroller. It is lighter than most sit and stands, and works well for my 3 year old and newborn.

  24. mom on the go..... on July 2nd, 2009 at 12:00 am

We had a graco duo glide when our son was first born. It was very large and hard to manuver through stores. The joovy is much lighter and the turning radius is great for a double. It is also very compact when folded. We love it! My only problem is the snap on the basket keep coming undone. I’m not sure if my daughter is kicking it or I’m overloading it. A little glue should fix it 🙂
My friend loved my stroller so much she immediatley bought one for herself

  25. Mom of 2 boys on July 5th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I was hesitant to get a double stroller after the birth of my second son, who is now 6 months old, for fear of dealing with a bulky awkward piece of equipment. My main purpose for deciding to purchase one was so that I could take both of my boys to the zoo, or other places where my toddler (3 years old) would need the option to ride instead of walk. After doing some research I decided on the Joovy Ultralight Caboose and I couldn’t be happier! I love it. My 3 year old loves sitting on the back. The front seat is perfect for my 6 month old. It is super easy to push and maneuver, super easy to open and close (can open with one hand), and is very light weight. The attached umbrella does a good job of protecting both kids from the sun. The parent organizer that came with my stroller is perfect for cell phone, keys, and drinks. I have also received MANY compliments on it (mine is Sage green). I would definitely recommend this stroller to a mom of 2, baby and toddler. I have had the stroller for about 2 weeks, have used it almost each day (more than I thought I would use it). The only thing that is a bit inconvenient is that the stroller doesn’t handle bumps in the sidewalk very well. You really have to slow down when approaching bumps. The first time I took a bump at full speed my toddler and my baby experienced some discomfort. Other than that I don’t have any complaints and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this stroller.

  26. 2 Girls Mom on July 29th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I bought this stroller to use on vacation, in and out of airports, etc. I was more than pleased!!! Several people even stopped me to ask me about it. I never got a double stroller as they seem too big and bulky and not really necessary. I have a one year old and three year old. The seat on the back was very easy for my three year old to get on and off of – which was great for quick bathroom stops. I thought it was really easy to push, maneuver, and fold up and down. I had read many reviews before purchasing and knew that the under basket would be virtually impossible to use, so I purchased “the Mommy clip” to use to hold bags and it worked great! This stroller is worth every penny!!!

  27. 2 Girls and Counting... on August 7th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I love this stroller and so does my toddler! It is super easy to maneuver and my oldest daughter loves that she can stand or sit in the “big kid” seat. It also fits my baby quite well. And you can’t beat the stylish design.

  28. Murphy X's 2 on August 24th, 2009 at 12:00 am

Getting out for any trip can now be done easily.

A little disappointed that the canopy cannot be used w/ infant carseat adapter, but this is a minor problem.

Overall I could not be happier.
