Strolling around with two children has never been easier. The versatile Caboose Stand-On Tandem allows an older child to stand on its rear platform while a younger child rides comfortably in front. If the standing child tires, they can turn around and rest on the padded rear seat. Parents will also appreciate the rear platform. No more lifting a heavier older child in and out of the stroller when they want to sit or get tired. The rear stand-on platform and the rear bench seat are designed for a child that is at least 2 1/2 years old but less than 40 inches tall. The Caboose comes fully-equipped with a universal car seat attachment system that accommodates an infant car seat in front, so it can be used with a brand new arrival. The front seat has two positions. The fully upright position should only be used for a child that is at least six months old. This stroller is lightweight and folds up compactly. It also has a large basket and storage pockets to carry all the essentials.

The Joovy Caboose Stand-On Tandem Stroller – Appletree features:

  • The Joovy Caboose Stand-On Tandem has a platform in rear for a toddler to stand and padded bench for sitting
  • Comfortable two-position front seat
  • Removable child tray and universal car seat adapter included
  • Lightweight and folds up compactly
  • Storage basket under seat with elastic sides for easy access

I have this in red and it has been the best $150 I have spent in a LONG time! My only gripe with it was no parent organizer/cup holders, but you can now order them, so problem solved! I have a 2 year old and an infant. So far I have mostly used it with my infant seat (Eddie Bauer) which is a little tight, but my two year old doesn’t seem to mind. He usually stands anyway and likes to look at his little brother. I love this stroller and use it every day! I haven’t regretted making this purchase one time!

I have a 2 1/2 year old and 7 month old and it is absolutely perfect for them and I!

  3. DEE W on April 11th, 2007 at 12:00 am

Not easy to use and no storage either. Not designed well at all.

  4. Melissa Z on May 3rd, 2007 at 12:00 am

FIrst of all, there is no cup holder and no parent tray so its next to impossible to hold anything plus the basket is impossible to get to. Next the front seat is terribly hard and small for a 2 year old plus the whole thing is hard metal and uncomfortable to sit or stand on. It won’t fold unless you jam the canopy into a neutral position and the harness straps are impossible to get on and off. The child tray is also horrible to get on and off to get your front child in and out.

I do like this stroller but will probably work out better for me once my baby is out of the infant carseat and old enough to sit in the front by himself, giving my 3 years old more room to sit on the bench. He hardly has room but still like to sit back there, I just wish the bench and the front seat were farther apart. I also wish the front seat could recline farther. I do still like the stroller though. A lot of people have asked me about it…especially those I see who have two kids.

I have had this stroller for 2 years now. It was perfect for my youngest when he was an infant and now that he is older I still use it. My oldest has always loved it. She has even fallen asleep sitting in the back seat. Even though it does not have much storage space, there is a strap with a clip in the back and I put my purse or bags there to hang and it keeps everything in reach.

So I have the answer to everyone’s problems…in relation to the stroller. The company Baby Trend makes a stroller that is almost exactly like this one. The only difference is that it turns on a dime (with two 40 lb kids in it), it has a 2 cup holder and the basket is larger and easier to reach. So, there ya go.

Overall I don’t like this stoller. Folding this stoller is awkward. The foot rest on the front is cheap and plastic, and if it is not just right when you fold it, it gets caught and bent. After just a couple of weeks it was so bent that it wouldn’t stay up. Another thing is that there is a lip at the end of the front seat that rips my infant’s shoes off every time I take her out. The basket is impossible to use with a child on the back. My 2 year old has to stand if my infant needs to lean back, and it is impossible to sleep in this stroller for an older child. The front seat is on the smaller side, my average size 2 year old is almost too big to sit in the front seat. It also lacks cup holders, however I purchased a cup holder from Joovy that works well.

I bought this stroller because I have the Peg Perego carrier and didn’t want to spend [$] on the double stroller from them. This stroller said that it fit most carriers. This is true, it did fit the Peg Perego carrier but my daughter was completely leaning forward when sitting on the bench. She wasn’t comfortable and she would drag her feet on the ground. I think that this stroller would be great if you had 2 kids and no carrier. Although my daughter didn’t last too long standing, she wanted to get off the stroller and walk around. I need to strap my kids in to get anything done. The stroller is sturdy and easy to fold. Somebody may love it…it just didn’t work for us.

We were looking for an everyday double stroller and it was impossible to find one that worked nicely. This one has been a life saver for my 2.5 yr old and 9 month old. The baby loves to sit in the front and eat off the food tray (a must have in our family), and the toddler loves to be able to sit on it when he is tired or mom is trying to get him through a store or parking lot. We use it for everything except big trips to amusement parks where the 2 yr old might want to sleep. We still use two strollers for that (compact for baby and umbrella for toddler).

The basket isnt very large but its enough. We just dont put a diaper bag in there, we just take some diapers, wipes and snacks seperately in ziplocks, great access from the sides even with both kids riding.

We are going to buy the parent cup holder for it, cant wait!

I recently made a trip to Vegas, so I purchased this stroller. so glad I did. To me the best feature was the ease in folding the stroller up when needed. From airport check in to packing it up in our car. I have a 4.5 year old and an infant. Works great when your kid (like mine)can’t decide if he wants to walk or sit. The transition is simple & easy. Highly recommend

At first I thought this stroller was the way to go, but after using it, I was wrong! It is very heavy, bulky, and takes muscle to manuever! I have a 3 1/2 yr. old and a newborn and this stroller did not work for us! My older son had no room in the back seat when the carseat was in front, he had to lean forward and ended up standing up which makes the stroller very difficult to push. You have to get to the basket from the sides and there is no place to put your cell phone or drink. What a waste of money!

We are expecting our 3rd child. Our youngest right now is 3. He has absolutley refused to ride in a stroller from about 8 months old. I knew this would become an issue after having a third baby. Who wants to chase a child while leaving an infant in the stroller?! After TONS of research and price compairson online and checking out the different model strollers in stores. I found that the Joovy Caboose is THE BEST! I opted for the 2007 model which isn’t yet on this web site but the 2006 model is very similar. After having the Caboose delivered I had my 3 year old assist in putting it together (wheels & canopy). Whatever it is about this stroller I cannot keep him off it! He absoluley LOVES it! I can already see we will have no problems with keeping him on this stroller while running errands. The baby isn’t even here yet and my son asks me all the time mommy can we go for a walk with the new “buggy”. I know that this is a winner with him and with the extra bells and whistles for parents(XL sun canopy…Parent Organizing Tray…20% lighter etc) I know that the Joovy Caboose was the best stroller we could have opted for. I have read other reviews stating that the stroller heavy…it isn’t to me (note:it is practicaly a double stroller what so you expect). Another complaint I read was it was hard to steer…So far it seems A TON easier than a double stroller would be (note:you are pushing two children…duh). After baby comes I will add another review. As of right now it’s tops! A+

Worked great when baby was still in carrier but once he was big enough to sit in the front seat-we only used it twice! The seat & back of seat are very hard & uncomfortable for baby. I have another stroller with more padding that he liked much better. Even the umbrella stroller was more comfortable for him. I thought for the money I paid it would have been more comfortable for him. Only used a handful of times & am now going to sell it & use money for something better! Also you cannot get to the basket when a child is sitting on the ride along.

I have 3 yr old and 10 month old and I LOVE this stoller. Works great w/ the infant seat and without and has always been comfortable for both children. Did have slight problem with plastic piece on canopy breaking. […]Only complaint is no parent tray, but organizer can be ordered for addtl. cost. I just throw my water bottle in basket. As to some of the other complaints, you can buy this stroller for about [$] and for that price range I think it is great!

  16. mom of two boys on November 1st, 2007 at 12:00 am

Great for the price, and is very light and easy to turn for a double stroller. I like that it can fit my two year old who is very tall and big for his age in the back, and he can stand, or be buckled in the bench seat when needed. It can really carry alot-I use it too bring my groceries from the car (our space is far from the apartment), and have the baby in the front seat, very sturdy. The storage basket is not really very accessible though, and very small.

  17. mother of 2 on November 6th, 2007 at 12:00 am

Not the best idea after already buying this product. At first sight, I thought this would be the best thing for my 3 year old to stand/sit on, but after using it one time, I realize that while she is sitting, there is nothing for her to do. I think that the product needs some sort of tray that goes up/down to allow her to pour her snack out/(cup holder also needed) or draw or whatever she may want to do–not just sit there. There is also NO cupholder for the person pushing the stroller.

  18. fran mom of many on November 27th, 2007 at 12:00 am

I purchased this product for a family vacation. My 5 year old is too big to fit into a regular double stroller and she would have never been able to walk the whole time we were away. My 3 year old sat in the front. Easy to put together, manuver, and take through airports. When My 5 year old wasnt standing we had room to put our cooler in the seat. Everyday I thanked myself for purchasing this product….
The only thing I could have wished for was a parent tray for my iced coffee!!

There are no cup holders. Unless you want to purchase a nylon cup holder that the company offers. The basket underneath is small. I kept kicking the toddlers foot rest. The front seat is shallow. I have another one now that was less expensive and has cup holders, larger basket, larger area for toddler. Though it doesn’t fold down as small as Joovy. Buckles are hard to manage. Tray difficult to remove. You can do nothing one handed.

The stand-on thing broke after a week of useing it. Everything else about it was great.

  22. Mom of two boys on March 2nd, 2008 at 12:00 am

I loved this stroller while I was able to use it. My boys are 5 and 3 now and are too big to use it. It was a life saver when I needed to keep an eye on my oldest. He tended to wander a bit. Now that they’re older they’re both just too heavy to use it. Recommend to a family with smaller children.

  23. kkpat on March 5th, 2008 at 12:00 am

Horribly heavy.  Takes up alot of space. No room for storage. Seat in back does not allow toddler in back to sit up straight.

  24. ynkersmom on March 20th, 2008 at 12:00 am

Love the ease of opening and folding stroller. A little on the heavy side but is very sturdy with 2 kids. I have a 2 month old and a 3 1/2 year old. 2nd seat a little uncomfortable with car seat in the front but still enough room for toddler. Love that we can push and control the stroller with one hand with both kids on board.

I think it’s a very good stroller. […] It is a little on the heavy side, but it works well.

I am a mother of a 4 year old and a 9 mth old. I was very excited about this stroller especially when we headed to Disney when my youngest was only 6 weeks old. This stroller is a great concept and very sturdy BUT its very heavy and bulky. Also when being used with the infant carseat you have to recline the front seat…but while the front is reclined than the other child can’t really sit on the bench behind unless bending forward or standing only. Also the front seat is not very comfortable…definately not a good napping stroller. The seat is very straight and stiff. The joovy caboose also doesn’t come with a cup holder but I did order the one you can get for it and it stretches around the handles. This actually was a good “extra” purchase…great for drink, cellphone, keys, etc! I really only use this stroller now for walks around the neighborhood because of some of the negative features. Would love to see some improvements made…but than will probably be too late for me as my kids will grow out of it 🙁

In response to some of the comments on this stroller:
Whenever you buy a stroller always try it out with your kids AT THE STORE. You have to get items that are age appropriate for your needs. This stroller is best for a 1 1/2-5 in the front and a 4+ in the back. The front tray removes, but not super easily. If your front child likes getting off and on you need to leave the tray off unless they are snacking. It obviously doens’t come with an adult cup holder or a rear seat cup holder. This is not convenient when your back seat child is snacking. We bought the removable cup holder at Babies R Us, along with the adult Joovy stretchy slide on cup holder that goes over the handle, and store the cup holder in the stretchy bag when not in use. We also have one like that on our McClaren, which also doensn’t come with any cupholders because it’s a travel stroller. However, with all these issues, which you CAN address, this stroller is great when you have an older child who walks and gets tired and needs a seat sometimes. GREAT! It’s easy on and easy off from the back seat. My daughter (now almost 6) also likes to stand, and she loves holding onto the handles. The sun roof only really covers the front child, the back just sort of. The only down side is it is a bit heavy, but this is perfect for us for mall runs and the like. It opens and closes easily. It’s sturdy and in this second version it’s quite manouverable.

  29. Mom of 2 boys on August 25th, 2008 at 12:00 am

Stroller was great when my sons were 3 years and newborn. I would pop on the car seat and my older son would jump in by himself. Now that my youngest son is 7 months and can sit facing forward in the front, I am no longer happy with the stroller. The front seat is too small and it is hard. The front shoulder belts are too small and tight fitting. When the front seat is reclined there is not much room left for the back seating area. Not designed for comfort. Now I have to buy another stroller!

  30. Mom of three boys on September 2nd, 2008 at 12:00 am

I wanted this stroller because I wanted something for my four year old who tires easily. This seemed like the perfect choice. I’ve had the stroller for a year and a half and it has held up well. I like how compact the stroller is and how easy it is to get in and out of doors. It is heavy, so if that’s a concern you may want to choose the ultralight, and it does take up a lot of trunk space. Now that I have another infant it seems less practical. When you use an infant seat it takes up a lot of room and leaves little room in the back for another child. I think this is a good stroller for babies who can sit up on their own and toddlers/preschoolers. I think I will use it more again when I don’t have to use the infant seat with it. The basket underneath is fairly good sized, but to access it you need to ask the child in back to move. That’s usually not a problem for me. The canopy is good, but if you have a tall toddler it will not work for him/her in the back of the stroller. All in all it’s a good stroller for trips to the mall/zoo, etc. However, if you need a stroller for children to nap in consider something else. Also, I bought the parent organizer and I can’t imagine using the stroller without it.

  31. Melinda on November 29th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I got this stroller because I thought it would be helpful at the mall or zoo since my 3.5 year old daughter gets tired after she walks for too long but its seriously impossible to move with a 25 lb kid in front and a 40 lb kid in back. My mom is in her 50s and she can barely push it with both kids in it.
I read the mixed reviews but figured it was worth it since we needed something and the double strollers are all too big to fit in our trunk (this does fold down nicely), plus my daughter was too big for the weight limit on most of them.

Ive grown to loath this stroller and I almost never use it anymore because it is so hard to push with both kids in it. I really wish I could reccomend it, but I cant.

  32. supermom3 on December 9th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I use the stroller most when out at the mall or know one child might grow tired…they can just hop on and off as they please. If needed both of the bigger children can get on for quick trips in parkings lots, ect. It keeps them safe and in 1 place! It’s very easy to put away and pretty light for as durable and big as it is. It worked for my 3rd as an infant! you won’t be dissapointed if you have multiple children! It was my 2nd double stroller…this 1 I LOVED!!!

  33. Sara, mom on January 18th, 2009 at 12:00 am

The concept for this stroller is great but this was NOT designed for normal use. I have had it a year and it has fallen apart. I would NOT recommend this to anyone. I am now looking for another stroller. A complete waste of money.

  34. mama in missouri on February 15th, 2009 at 12:00 am

Very happy so far with this. Fits in my car, has a small wheel base so it’s not much bulkier than my regular stroller. It folds up very easily and it rides along smoothly. My toddler is quite petite, so she fits on the bench seat even with the baby’s car seat in the front, but there’s not a whole lot of room back there. I much prefer it to the Babytrend sit and stand – it feels less like driving a bus! Would be perfect if it came with cupholders/trays for the toddler and parent.
Storage basket is hard to get to especially if you have a large diaper bag, and with two kids, who doesn’t have a large diaper bag????

  35. proud mom of four on April 28th, 2009 at 12:00 am

easy to assemble, easy to get around its not big and bulky. it folds down small. babies r us has it for the best price, found it at other places for [$] quality is ok not the best but its still good for the price. i love it!!

  36. flipping mom on May 18th, 2009 at 12:00 am

i needed a stroller for a toddler and a new born, but with all these new “hybrid” save the earth cars (prius) to be exact the trunk space is limited so i got this to fit in the trunk and it works great for my kids they both love it!

  37. Mom of 2 on July 31st, 2010 at 12:00 am

We use this stroller all the time (for a 2.5 yr old and infant in car seat) and love it. Putting car seat in is really easy (Graco SnugRide). I know they make lighter-weight models, but for the price difference, I’m fine with this one. I use it almost daily for walks, and can get it in and out of my trunk without a problem. Relatively early to steer with carseat on, REALLY easy to steer without carseat. Very easy to collapse and open. The "parent organizer" is a must.
