I have had many strollers in the past 3 year and have found this one to be one of the best!!! I was tired of lugging around my daughters large stroller that was very bulky so I decided to get an umbrella stroller. I originally got the Chicco Capri one only to realize that she was almost to the weight limit and had to return that one. Instead we picked out the Maclaren Volo in the Coffee color and love it! We just purchased it over the weekend and have already fallen in love with how smooth the ride is for my 3 1/2 year old. The 5 point buckle is great for when she is ready to go to sleep and also it gives us a little more security with her. She likes to get out of the buckles in every stroller but this one she cannot. Great feature. Another thing that we love is the easy fold up. Normally on other umbrella strollers you have to basically turn the stroller upside down to fold it up. With this one all you have to do is to push up on the latch hit another latch with your foot and it’s done. Very simple!!! I have already recommended this stroller to about 3 other mothers who are too looking for lightweight strollers. Plus with the weight limit being much higher it’s going to be great when we travel to Walt Disney world in the next year!

It’s so easy to close!!! With his big stroller we would miss the bus just trying to close it. But with the Maclaren Volo it has made traveling so easy. I can even fit his diaper bag in the basket. The only thing is trying to shop around for the Volo Rain Cover has been a hassle. The only one on the market from what I see is a silver one and it doesn’t match the brown Volo.

  3. Karina on January 25th, 2008 at 12:00 am

Excellent stroller for quick trips around town. Stroller is really lightweight . I suffer from lower back pain and this one is easy to carry around even with the child in it. Additional accessories from the Maclaren line are expensive, but you can substitute with the following: rain cover with the Especially For Baby brand, and the blanket with the JJ Cole brand (attaches safely with the velcro lining on the straps). Apart from your child, don’t expect this stroller to carry loads on its lightweight basket. A must for city dwellers.

  4. Lifang on January 27th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I have 3 strollers for one baby??? It’s not because I’m rich , but didn’t know about this stroller thing before. I like to travel by public transportation (bus or subway). So I really need something that lightweight, easy and good looking. Volo Maclaren is the answer. Affordable and satisfied me… But one thing.. doesn’t come with the rain cover…

This is my 4th stroller in 11 months and by far my favorite! The Volo is so lightweight, takes up such little room in my cargo area and is very easy to open and close. I love the carrying strap and it just looks great, on top of everything else.

  6. busy auntie on February 23rd, 2008 at 12:00 am

I love this stroller. I have my niece atleast 4 times a week and we are constantly on the go. She is 3 almost $ yrs old now and she fits comfortably and its a smooth ride andeasy to steer. We had the Chicco Capri 2 different times and it was awkward to steer and did not hold up well. The Macleran was about $40.oo more but well worth it.

  7. Nlo on March 9th, 2008 at 12:00 am

This stroller is wonderful! It is extremely light weight and my son loves it. I also like that the weight limit is 55 pounds!! Love this and would definetly recommend to anyone!

  8. MOM OF 3 on March 11th, 2008 at 12:00 am

My 4 year old has special needs and has a wheelchair. His chair is sooo heavy that I decided to get an Umbrella stroller for him. When he was a baby, we had the Maclaren Techno XT, but gave it to my new little nephew. Loved the Techno XT also.
Anyway, the Volo is great for my 40 + pounder. It rides very smooth, is comfortable and easy to push (I am 5’9). My son is very comfortable in it. When he falls asleep, his head nestles in the back of the stroller. Like another Mom said, he cannot release the seatbelt, so he cannot escape. That’s a great thing in my situation. It is a very sturdy and solid feeling stroller, yet so lightweight. It is not a shopping cart, so don’t expect to fit the store in your basket. To me this is an advantage. If I can’t carry it, it can’t come home with me.
The brakes have been improved in this model. They are much easier to put on and release. Once your child is close to sitting up, I would highly recommend this stroller.

  9. Gen X mom on March 11th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I am so glad I went into the BabiesRUs to test these strollers out with my son. I had made up my mind to order another brand online, but after the shaky ride, I resorted to trying out them all. This Maclaren Volo was perfect, because my son’s height and weight is greater than average for his age, and this stroller is good for kids up to 65 pounds. Pushing this stroller is effortless, and the ride is smooth – even with a big kid! This stroller outlasts all the rest, which justifies the price tag!

  10. Cookie Monster on March 14th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I have had the Volo for 2 years. I have a Honda Civic and I tend to fill up my trunk quickly. So, the Volo was great for a small car. We also flew dozens of times with this stroller and it held up well for two years. The strap on the back that is used to release it for folding broke. I was very pleased with the ability to fold it up with one hand (holding baby in the other). Other than the broken part it has been a great stroller. I guess I can’t expect it to hold up forever when they are tossing it on and off the plane so often. Bummer, I would have used it for my second child.

  11. MODERN MOM on March 15th, 2008 at 12:00 am

LIGHTWEIGHT GREAT CONSTRUCTION NO ASSEMBLY (EXCEPT THE SUN SHADE) PORTABLE AND REALLY EASY TO TURN (LITERALLY YOU CAN DO IT WITH ONE HAND)!

  12. Busy Mom on March 17th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I love this stroller! It is so easy to push. It folds up very easily and compact, too. After buying this stroller and using it a few times for all day outings, we wished we would have gotten one that reclined. We have now also pucrhased the Maclaran Quest and prefer that one. It is great to have 2 strollers in each car that fold and push easily.

  13. Liz on March 19th, 2008 at 12:00 am

This stroller is great, is very light and easy to use. The only thing I din’t like is that it dosent included the rain cover (you know the plastic cover) and when you buy them at a regular store it comes with it.

  14. Lisa on April 14th, 2008 at 12:00 am

We looked at several lightweight strollers and chose the Maclaren Volo. I couldn’t be happier! It folds very compactly and I love the built-in carry strap. It’s lightweight and can be easily handled with one hand. One of the biggest pluses, which I didn’t realize until after getting it, was the really large canopy. It’s great for keeping my daughter out of the sun – much larger than the other strollers we looked at. The basket is small, but I wasn’t looking for a large basket for an umbrella stroller.

  15. Cara on April 21st, 2008 at 12:00 am

We’ve had this stroller for 3 years now. I bought it when we lived in Orlando and where going to Disney and Sea World regularly as my 3/4 yr old would get tired during the day. I originally bought a big Evenflo stroller but it broke after using it 3 times at the parks and it was big and bulky. This one has been to Disney and Sea World, I don’t know how many times, used it when our son was 5 at Disney also. It’s been through heck and back and still looks brand new, and still works. I’ve never had a stroller that has lasted this long with all the wear and tear this one has had. We love it, and I can fit a small cooler in the basket, for days that you need to bring food or drinks with you. We can still use the stroller next year when we go to Disney when our son will be 7 because of how high the weight limit on this stroller is. It’s well worth the money, and we are planning to buy a new Maclaren for our new baby.

My only issue was I couldn’t ever get the hood to stay on the stroller.

  16. Jen on April 25th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I’m a working mom who commutes back and forth everyday by public transportation and could not live without this stroller!!It is extremely lightweight and durable so it makes traveling with my toddler so easy..especially that you can close it with one hand! My only complaint is the color I chose gets dirty pretty quickly which is not so easy too clean and the seat does not recline.Other than that it’s a must have item!

  17. May on May 13th, 2008 at 12:00 am

My son is 6 years old and does not walk. I tried getting a special needs stroller but they are between 1500 to 2000 dollars. This stroller is perfect for him because his feet don’t drag on the ground like his other stollers. He is about 35 lbs and he fits in it perfectly. Its also very easy to steer and very light weight. I am very happy with it.

  18. A's Mommy on May 18th, 2008 at 12:00 am

We LOVE this stroller! WE’ve been using it since my son was 6 mos. old, and he’s now 2. We almost bought the chicco stroller, but after test-driving this stroller in the store, we decided on the Volo due to it’s smooth ride, higher weight limit (55 lbs!), light-weight design, and mesh seat. It gets HOT here in Texas, so the mesh is great for the summer weather. The sun shade is very thick and sturdy as well. We have also traveled to both coasts with the Volo, and it’s great for those airline security checkpoints. Let’s face it, going through those things is a pain–especially with a child and the fact that your child has to be taken out of the stroller, and the stroller collapsed to go through security, but this stroller made it very easy to do. It did GREAT zipping through NYC streets, and subway stations. It was also perfect for our trip to Disneyland. I wish I hadn’t purchased the Graco Travel System, but just the infant seat carrier stroller, and this stroller. It would have saved me money since we hardly ever used the bulky travel system stroller. I wish I’d gotten a travel bag for our flights though because one of the airlines messed up the foam on one of the handles. That’s mostly cosmetic, and this is still a GREAT stroller! I recommend it to every friend who is looking for a stroller.

  19. Mia's Mom on May 30th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I have a tall 7 months old baby girl and a small car (Honda Civic). The Volo is truly the best stroller out there! It folds very small and weighs almost nothing! The mesh backing is perfect for the hot summer weather. But the best thing about this stroller is the fact that it turns on a dime! I couldn’t be happier with it!!!

  20. C&K's Mommy on June 16th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I bought this stroller about a year ago when I was pregnant with my second child. My four year old child was too big for any other stroller. I came accross this stroller while registering for my 2nd baby…..and I couldn’t believe it held up to 55 lbs. My son is 5 and he still fits in it great. He was always on the tall side and we went through 3 other umbrells strollers that broke. PLus their handles were way too short. This stroller turns on a dime and my husband has no problem reaching the handles. I wish I found it 4 years ago. Also my daughter who is now 8 months loves riding in it as well. Since she was able to sit up….I have barely used her regular stroller. This one is just so much easier. Plus…if it gets dirty….I just hose it off and it is dry within a few minuits.

  21. disatisfied buyer on June 18th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I paid the extra money for this stroller on the recommendations of friends. It does steer easily and folds with one hand. However, this stroller falls over BACKWARDS all the time even with nothing hanging on the back of it. A mild wind will topple it over. For [$]+ I think it should be better than that. Do not buy this one.

  22. Busy as a bumblee SINGLE Mom of 2 on June 22nd, 2008 at 12:00 am

I purchased this item last summer when my little man (who is now 15 months) was not even 6 months old. He was almost 10lbs and was 21 1/2 inches long at birth ๐Ÿ™‚ So my bruiser of a little baby LOVES THIS. It’s perfect because it’s very breathable. He doesn’t get hot at all on stroller rides. I love how even though I’ll have a trunk full of shopping bags, no room for this stroller in trunk it folds so nicely and I can either put it in the front of my little car, or the floor board in the back seat and after a year, the only thing that could be imperfection of it is it has a little rust by the wheels because I left it out in the rain. I’ve only had to wipe off the shade part of it. At times when my 6 year old who is over the max weight is exhausted I’ll push her in it (but not for long) and she says its comfortable. I love the strap! I don’t like bulky items, nor pushing something super bulky and this is the best buy. Little pricey for an umbrella stroller but everyone else who has purchased other strollers, probably ended up paying more for all the ones that ended up breaking, or they didn’t like because of they weight and size. I’m a single mom, kiddos always go to their dads, or grandparents, and it’s SO EASY for the traveling! For someone wanting a cup holder, thermometer, key holder, all these items which now after 2 kids, I don’t want all this extra stuff when I’m shopping, just want the basics. I ended up buying those circles connectors for toys, I’ll attach my keys and wallet to it for when we shop. How much water or drink do you really need when you shop so cup holder wasn’t a must for me. I put it all in the basket below. It’s small, its compact, it’s smart, it’s very reliable. I’d highly recommend it. I’ve bought it for EVERYONE for their baby shower and they LOVE IT!

  23. new mom on June 27th, 2008 at 12:00 am

returned the mac quest and got this instead…much better for our needs. we keep it in the back of my trunk for errands, the mall, and hopefully traveling soon ๐Ÿ™‚ It weighs 8 POUNDS!!! need i say more? it is the most “basic” mac stroller- but a mac nonetheless. Steers great, basket surprisingly holds my large ju ju be tote, and the hood is much bigger than the quest. The hood on the volo and quest also can be pushed down farther covering the babies face from late afternoon sun (so it goes much lower than shown in the pic). The volo comes with a strap to just sling over your shoulder which i sure will be great for disneyland and traveling. I love this volo in brown because the wheels DO touch the canopy when folded which i’ve heard is a big complaint on the other white volos sold elsewhere- so the brown looks better in my opinion and keeps clean:) At [$]its a steal!! My other stroller is the bob rev. 12″ AW which i ADORE for walks at home with the dog and outside activities- together with the volo i’m set for anything.

  24. Jessica on June 30th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stroller! So easy to use and push around. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

  25. Nanny from Chicago on July 2nd, 2008 at 12:00 am

I have experience with hundreds of strollers and was finally ready to purchase my own stroller to have in my car when I have kids with me. I also wanted a higher weight limit than a junky umbrella stroller, and I love how easy Maclarens are to maneuver. I love how easy it is to maneuver both empty and with a heavy child in it. I also love how easy it is to fold up and carry. I wish the strap was padded, but I’m still completely satisfied with the product!

  26. Jack's Mom on July 7th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I think this stroller is great! It is very light weight and the carrying strap makes it very easy to carry. My husband is 6′ 4″ and he really liked the height of the handles considering all the other strollers he had to lean down to push. It folds up nice and I love the mesh back. My son is always so hot and the mesh really helps keep him cool. Especially since we live in Florida and we use this stroller mostly when we are out for the whole day. The basket underneath was a perk, yeah its small, but come on…this is an umbrella stroller not your travel system stroller after all. I would highly recommend this stroller.

  27. First time mommy on July 11th, 2008 at 12:00 am

This stroller is absolutely fabulous. I was looking for an umbrella stroller so that I could have more mobility with my 6 month old. My other stroller is just so bulky, and I wanted something lightweight, yet sturdy and comfortable for the baby. After researching online, I came across this stroller and went to the Maclaren website to learn more about it. I decided to take my chance with it after reading all of its great features without actually having seen it or handled it in person. Well, it is everything it said it would be! So lightweight, easy to open and close (really 5 seconds!), great handling. My baby boy loved it! He was comfortable in it, the ride was quite smooth. The wheels turn easily and it is so easy to push that it feels as if you are not exerting any energy at all! It was a hot day, and thanks to the mesh seat, my baby did not have a drop of sweat on his back, which was a problem with my other stroller. I definitely recommend this product. It is worth the investment.

  28. Austin's Mommy on July 13th, 2008 at 12:00 am

We love this stroller. My husband and I took back another umbrella stroller because our 16 month old could not sit fully upright and we bought the Maclaren. It has been wonderful! Our son sits up just fine, the stroller opens and folds very easily, the strap is great to carry the stroller, and the diaper bag fits in the basket. I couldn’t ask for anything more. It’s simple, but does the job very well.

  29. Ava'smom on July 16th, 2008 at 12:00 am

This is a wonderful stroller. The price is decent especially for what you are getting. My daughter has always hated her previous strollers from the lightweight to the travel ones. This is the only one she would go on willingly and stay on for a lenghty period of time. It is lightweight at 8 lbs. which is something I need when I take the train, bus, and walk almost daily with her to get around. It moves very smoothly and can even be maneuvered with one hand as you answer the phone, go shopping, etc. The dark color is also perfect and doesn’t show stains easily. The basket is also wide enough for easy accessiblity, although i wished that it came with a small organizer to put keys, bottles, and little items on top. However,I was able to buy a universal stroller mesh bag for $3 so it wasn’t a big deal. My daughter and I love this stroller!!!

  30. Mia's mommy on July 24th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I am thrilled with the Volo! My little one HATED her graco snugride stroller frame. I thought she would never like stroller rides…but I was wrong! She loves sitting in this stroller and it handles so great! It’s so light, easy to fold and unfold, it was worth a little extra money in my opinion! Great product.

  31. Bunkys mom on August 5th, 2008 at 12:00 am

After alot of research on strollers I decided on this one based on reviews. I love it !!! Its light wieght and stores like an umbrella stroller.
My son finds it very confortable. My only complaint is that it’s a little expensive. It would be nice to have a stroller tray and cup holders. I bought a nice bag for the back. but that was an extra $20.00 added to the price.

  32. Desert Commuter Mom on August 8th, 2008 at 12:00 am

The main reason I gave this stroller a try was for the mesh back. Its really hot out here for the most of the year and I wanted my baby (20 mos. old) to be comfortable. I tried the jeep version but it was too narrow and had no room for growth. We then moved on to this one, went for a ride in the store and my boy liked it. Although this one is much more expensive I think it is worth it. I love how compact and light weight it is. My husband likes the squishy/foamy handles, easy fold and quick breaks. It is super easy to steer even with one hand. The under basket is sufficient. Sure it can topple over if you have a full diaper bag on the handles, but hey, the thing only weighs 8 pounds! Sure I wish it cheaper but its a well made convenience stroller. its worth it to me!!!

  33. Amanda the first time mom on August 18th, 2008 at 12:00 am

So far so good….I just got this today and wow I can’t say enough great things about it. Despite the flaw of it not having a cup holder or not reclining it’s great. My daughter likes to sleep sitting up anyways and I bought the Maclaren organizer to hold a water bottle. It’s durable and light! I am going on a trip from CA to FL on Wed. and can’t wait to use it. I tried about 4 strollers today in the store and my daughter liked this one the best! The mesh back is great for both CA and FL weather. What a deal for the quality. I had a coupon and it ended up cheaper than some of the other not so great brands. My sister in law has this stroller and it’s 2 years old and her daughter loves it as well. Not to mention it will last forever and holds even the biggest of kids. Definitely get this…you won’t be sorry!!!

  34. Mara on August 19th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I’m a mother of twins and before I use double strollers but getting two of this makes it easier for me specially when you go shopping or if you take just one at a time.

  35. CJ's mom on August 26th, 2008 at 12:00 am

This stroller is great. I love the extra room for bigger kids. My daughter really likes it also and should be able to use it for many years due to the extra comfort of the stroller.

  36. David's Mom on September 4th, 2008 at 12:00 am

The Volo folds up as small as any umbrella stroller and is lightweight. It fits easily in my compact car trunk with all the other junk that’s in there. It has a perfect size basket for everything I need for myself and the baby, which is pretty accessible. I only wish it had an organizer up near the handle bars for things I need to access quickly, but apparently they sell that for extra. I’m not sure if I will buy that or not. I used the carry strap today to go up a long flight of stairs with my little one, I don’t think I would have made it up there as easily without it. Handles are very comfortable and you don’t need to crouch to reach them. The wheels turn very easily and don’t get stuck. I had a bad previous experience with a $15 umbrella that kept getting stuck, which is why I chose to spend a bit more for a stroller that would be easy to handle. The canopy also works great for blocking the sun. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this stroller for a long walk off the sidewalk, but it’s great for everything else.

  37. BrinaBean on September 6th, 2008 at 12:00 am

We decided to buy this stroller for travel. The cost is affordable, it is extremely light and easy to push, it feels sturdy, the canopy is large, and it is an overall great looking stroller as well. Please note that the basket is small, the seat does not recline, and the wheels slightly touch the canopy fabric when it is folded. However, I knew this before purchasing it and still feel it is deserving of a solid 4 of 5 score for traveling purposes. I would definitely buy this again!

  38. LARY on September 12th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I have a small car I needed a stroller that would fold easily, light and that would not take too much space. this is it. its confi my son loves it.
it is the best light weight stroller.

  39. Mom of 16 month old boy on September 15th, 2008 at 12:00 am

Great to bring on vacation and keep in the trunk of my car for errands. Extremely lightweight which is why I got it. Overall less cumbersome than the travel system stroller I have. Not quite a one handed close, but it is still new to me. Basket is hard to access with child in seat. Kind of a pain to adjust the straps.

  40. T on September 16th, 2008 at 12:00 am

This is so much better than those bulky strollers.

  41. Traveling mom on September 17th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I bought this stroller to keep in the car and use when traveling. We recently took a trip to Europe and brought this stroller along because it is light and small. It was terrible. Because the seat doesn’t recline, smaller children are extremely uncomfortable. Additionally, though it says that it works for smaller children, the way they’ve made the shoulder straps, it is nearly impossible to get them to fit a small baby (my son is a large 8 month old). We had to do a work around to get the straps short enough to hold him in and then they cut into his neck. When he fell asleep in it, his head would fall forward and he looked incredibly uncomfortable. Because it was so uncomfortable, we had to wrestle with him to get him in it and most of the time decided to just carry him instead.

In short, don’t make the same mistake that we did. Buy the next model up and then you won’t have to buy a second after you’re disappointed with this model. It’s cheaper to spend the money on the front end.

  42. Quan's Mom on September 21st, 2008 at 12:00 am

Not sure what the big deal is about Maclaren, there are so many better strollers out there for less money. I bought this one and returned it after one month of using it. The handles are in a weird position I thought, and the buckles to strap in your child are backwards and cumbersome. Again, I think getting a Maclaren is like getting an expensive pocketbook – it looks good but a cheaper one is just as good.

THE STROLLER IS PERFECT IN ALL WAYS, NO COMLAINTS…….THANK YOU

  44. Snapshot mommy on September 24th, 2008 at 12:00 am

After struggling with a cumbersome stroller for almost a year, I broke down and bought the Volo. I’ve never been happier! My son LOVES the breathable mesh seat because he’s not sweating away like in his other stroller. The stroller is fantastically light and incredibly responsive. It drives like a dream and fits into any tight spot. Pricey, but you can search to find last year’s model at a great deal. However, now that I have it, I would pay full retail for it!!! Have recommended this to many friends–I am so happy with this stroller! Since I bought this when my son was older, I can’t say how good/bad this would be for a younger child. Perfect for toddlers! Oh, and I can fit PLENTY in the basket. Too much, in fact! I thought it would help limit shopping–not at all!

  45. Mommyof1 on October 18th, 2008 at 12:00 am

I absolutely loved the feel and look of this stroller when I first looked at it in the store. I was downsizing from my very large travel stoller and wanted something lightweight and easy to push. I was very disappointed though with the fact that the very 1st time I used the stoller, the foot rest broke. My daughter is 2 years old and very light weight, 26 lbs, stepped 1 foot onto the foot rest to get out and it broke. How disappointing! I’m going to find my reciept and take back to exchange…I hope this is not a repeat problem. Spent the extra money for the trusted name and thought I was getting “quality”. Other than breaking the first time I used it, it seemed to push easy and my daughter liked riding in it.

  46. PBS on November 9th, 2008 at 12:00 am

    Best in weight and price!

  47. tall dad on November 12th, 2008 at 12:00 am

Mesh seat is very difficult to clean and my son kept slipping down too far into the seat. Also for the price it should have a recline!! My sons head bobs forward and looks very uncomfortable for him. My son is 6 months old.

    Stroller is really light though.

I picked this up after getting tired of my other stroller taking up all my trunk space, and I found that I really love this one! My son is only 6 months old, but he has just outgrown his carrier and it’s great being able to put him in this. He loves it! It drives like a dream (as another reviewer said) and turns so incredibley easily! I can open and close it one-handed, with him on my hip. So far I’ve only used it for brief trips to the cafe, doctor’s office or the store, but it’s doing the job perfectly. It’s not something I would expect him to stay in for long periods of time. I tried a couple of less-expensive ones in the store, but this one really is worth the extra $$. I’m really pleased with it!

I have tired lots of strollers, and this is one of the best for any child who’s able to sit up. My son was in it since he was 6 months, it’s super roomy and light and turns very smoothly.

We bought this stroller specifically to use on our trip to Disney World with our 5 year old daughter. We wanted to find a stroller that could hold her, was lightweight, easy to push and economical.

Well, this stroller fit the bill! The Maclaren Volo stroller holds up to 55 pounds and the stroller itself only weighs about 8 pounds. We found it easy to fold up, light to carry on and off the buses at Disney World and was a breeze to push. (We own a Chicco stroller that we paid half the price for – my husband and I both kick the wheels when we push it. The Maclaren Volo was very comfortable to push – no kicking of wheels or walking funny to avoid kicking the wheels.) Our daughter had no complaints about it and found it comfortable enough to fall asleep most nights in it. When you factor the price of renting a stroller for a long trip to Disney, it made much more sense to buy this stroller. Plus, we use it with our two year old as our primary stroller. Great find!!!! Had I known how good this one was, I never would have purchased the Chicco stroller.

Not worth the $$$. It has a cheap mesh back and does not recline…so there’s no proper back support! The straps often get tangled. There’s no strap padding either…so it cuts into my baby’s neck. Even though it is advertised to support babies 6 months and up, the chest/shoulder strap does not support an infant…and so my baby falls forward, especially when sleeping. And because it’s not sturdy, the stroller can fall forward due to the weight imbalance or by wind. The basket is way too small…I don’t know anyone with a small enough diaper bag to put in it. And at this price, I would expect a cup holder along with a small compartment for keys. My baby cries every time he’s in it!!! I end up carrying him and using the stroller to hold my diaper bag on the seat.

THE GOOD: the brand’s reputation, durability, light-weight, easy to manuver, sturdy, able to hold bigger toddlers, one-hand handling, 5-point harness
THE BAD: uncomfortable (cause there’s no back-padding and the straps tend to get twisted), straps not adjustable for small infants of 6m, no multiple seating position (does not recline), small basket, no cup holder, bumpy ride, way overpriced for an umbrella stroller…MY 6m BABY CRIES EVERY TIME I PUT HER IN IT!!!
MY ADVICE: get the Chicco Capri Stroller…much cheaper and similar in design

Wow – this product gets so many awesome reviews and I don’t get it. Based on those reviews, perhaps we truly got a defective one? I could not for the life of me figure out how to close the stroller and stood on a street corner for several minutes until my husband figured it out. Ditto for the straps, which seemed to always be tangled and never able to be expanded. (And no, we are not silly people – we both are highly educated with advanced degrees and we could not get it!) It’s still hard to close, and I always need help. It does not recline, my daughter screams nonstop in it. It became a holder for our diaper bag (which would never fit underneath) instead of a resting place for my daughter. The sunshade is large, but has no peekthrough window so I can see her sleeping. This is not appropriate for infants, but may be appropriate for a very self-sufficient older toddler who just needs a place to sit. It is very lightweight. The Combi is similarly priced and SO much better. We just bought our second Combi and still love it (we go through strollers like crazy as we take them everywhere) – the Combi is narrow, easy to manuever, easy to close, open, holds more, reclines, and is much, much better if you want a super lightweight stroller. We relegated the MacLaren to the garage and still make a face everytime we see one at Disneyland. ๐Ÿ™

I didn’t know how easy it is to open and close this stroller until the salesperson showed me. It is so easy and take less than 5 sec!! It is great for short trips. My son loves it too.

This stroller is so lightweight and portable! I wouldn’t choose another stroller, ever!

  56. September Mommy on April 2nd, 2009 at 12:00 am

I like this stroller, but my son is almost 7 months old and the straps do not adjust tight enough for him (the ones that come over the shoulder). He is average size (in the 75th percentile for height and weight). I think it is very easy to fold, I haven’t had any problems, but then again I did have the store employee show me how to use it before I bought it. For those who say it doesn’t recline…didn’t you realize that before you bought it? Didn’t you read the info or try the stroller out first?
I do have to agree that the basket is smaller…but really, what do you expect from a small, lightweight stroller?

We recently had to give up our Maclaren twin traveller stroller as my 5 y.o boy was just a little too tight sitting in it and he is small, 44 lbs. We did not think it would be difficult to find two single strollers to replace our double, boy we were wrong!! We test drove almost every stroller on the market and all just failed in comparison to the Maclaren’s. We ended up with 2 Maclaren volo’s. Even with a larger child, drives smoothly, easily turns, and hood is high enough that a taller child can still use it. Also Love the carrying strap, and ease of folding. We are planning to use these for a Disney world trip in June. If you need a single stroller for bigger kids, this is truly the ONLY one to buy.

The thin is not for infants, so of course it won’t work well for one. It’s an UMBRELLA stroller – it is not going to have the features from a regular heavy duty stroller system – it’s made to be a lightweight portable option for easy maneuvering. It’s a GREAT stroller. No complaints but price – slightly hefty for an umbrella stroller.

love this stroller, we had a cheapo they had given us for free with a prior purchase, i sold it and invested a little more on this one….doesn’t have the cup holders, but bought the little hang from the back attachment from maclaren and it has cup holders and a bag and it folds up with the stroller; it is super easy to fold and unfold and super light; only prob i have is that it is for six mos + and my dd is eleven mos and the straps won’t go snug or even close on her, but she does fine with them a little looser than they should be….would recommend to anyone looking for a light stroller with a high weight limit; nice that it has the top for the sun as well; and the basket is small, but you can expect to put much in a stroller that only weighs eight lbs….and it is very easy to carry with the strap when folded..

I bought this when my toddler was beginning to hit the weight limit on the travel system. She was still too young to walk far on her own and regular umbrella strollers were a pain in the back. Literally. This stroller is fantastic. It easily steers with one hand, even fully loaded. The basket is a bit small but I’m glad that it has a basket at all. When folded, it takes up almost no space and weighs next to nothing. My 6’2″ husband is even comfortable pushing this stroller. We took this with us to when we drove to Disney and had no problem trying to figure out where to put the luggage. I only wish that it had a cup holder. Bottom line, if you can afford this stroller, get it. You will NOT be dissappointed. With the 55 pound weight limit, you will get your money’s worth. I only wish that I had bought this stroller first instead of wasting my money on cheaper lightweight strollers.

Im always up and about in nyc, meaning I take trains pretty often. The big stroller was a pain in the butt to use up and down the stairs in the stations. So, I had already spent about 600 on the huge stroller, and didn’t want to spend a small fortune on an umbrella stroller. I didnt want a cheap 30 dollar umbrella stroller as I would not only use it often, but baby isnt exactly 10 lbs anymore (try 25lbs) so that was out of the question. I was always looking at Maclaren but always thought it too pricey for a second stroller. I finally found the Volo after much searching, only to find that the black and raspberry was discontinued, but alas I found it and I use it all the time! It folds super easy and comes with a shoulder strap, so I can handle baby in one hand while closing and carrying the stroller with the other. Its pretty light weight (at a little over 8lbs, beats my 19lbs peg perego) and Ive had no product damage issues whatsoever since I’ve had it for about 6 months. Now my huuuuge gripe about this is that it DOES NOT recline. I’ve often found myself tilting the stroller completely to try to make baby comfy while we stop. No mesh diaper bag, had to purchase for $25!!. I guess you get what you pay for in the end. I dont recomend this for all day use as baby wont be comfy it it for super long periods of time, but it gets me to where I have to get with out breaking my back and baby seems to bask in the sun and love people watching while in it. I’d give it a 7 out of 10. If you don’t need something fancy, but want something durable and easy, this is a go to.

I recommend spending a couple more bucks on the triumph or Quest it’s worth it. We got this one and returned it, I didn’t like the mesh backing, my son was always slouched and it looked so uncomfortable. We were able to purchase the Techno XLR instead…and LOVE it.

  63. declansmom on June 7th, 2009 at 12:00 am

I bought this solely for getting in and out of airports quickly. It is the lightest one I could find and still good quality. You have to practice the one hand fold to get good at it, and it takes two hands to unfold the clip at the bottom. The basket is hard to get to and I would like a recline but this is very maneuverable and lightweight. I would also like a pad to go over the edge of the seat. My son’s knees hang over and the edge cuts into the back of his knees. I agree this is not an all day stroller. The sun canopy also does not move so you need to dodge the sun when it’s in baby’s face.

This is the PERFECT umbrella stroller. It is lightweight, easy to fold and store, and so comfortable for my son. He’s 11 months and has plenty of room to grow in this one. The best thing is that your feet don’t kick the wheels when you are pushing! I tried so many before this one and they were all a pain to push – not this one! The handles are great too – they are comfortable for me (I’m 5’3″) and my husband (he’s 6’4″) to push.

No need to spend the big bucks on the more expensive umbrellas – this one is perfect!!!

  65. Traveller on July 1st, 2009 at 12:00 am

I bought this stroller for travel. I was looking for the lightest and i sure got it. It served the purpose, but being so lightweighted you can hardly hang a diaper bag on it. It tips over everytime you take your child out of it and it was very, very annoying. And yes, you have to buy an additional holding compartment for $25, which is mesh. My broke in a week after hardly any use. I would not recommend this stroller for that money.

I just purchased this stroller yesterday, 2nd hand for [$]… I could not see paying $120.00 for an umbrella stroller when I have already spent so much $ on my daughter’s Bugaboo Frog. The reason why I purchased this stroller was for traveling and quick trips. I could not decide on what model Maclaren to purchase but really wanted this to be the last stroller that I ever have to purchase, and seeing that this holds a weight capacity of 55lbs I thought it was a good choice. Even though some of the other strollers say they hold up to 55lbs I just didn’t see that happening. We travel to Florida at least once a year and my daughter had already been to Disney World twice by the time she was 9 months old! I have taken Disney transportation w/3 different types of strollers and it was not a pleasant experience! With that in mind I made my decision to purchase the Volo, it’s light weight, breathable material, large canopy and weight capacity. I tried it out last night at are local Kohls store and my one yr old actually sat still for almost the entire time! (never happens) As much as I like some of the Volo’s features, I do have some dislikes… my daughter is very small for her age and does not seem comfortable (even though she must have been to have remained in it for so long) also it is not as easy to push w/one hand once the child is in it like I thought I could… It does not recline (which I knew when I purchased it) I also feel like the mesh material is nice and breathable but at the same time rough on her skin (will most likely purchase a Maclaren fabric liner) However for my traveling needs I do think this will work out well and hopefully it will last us a couple of years and a couple good trips! Glad I did not pay the $120.00!

I bought this model thinking about the 8.4 pounds weight to travel but, in reality this model weights 13 lbs. I remark on this fact, it is not the 8.4 pounds also you are going to need both hands to set up the stroller, maybe this is the reazon to put this model on clearance.

This is my 4th Maclaren not because they brake down but because I just love them I first had the Maclaren techno xlr then the maclaren quest sport and the maclaren triumph and now the maclaren volo.Maclaren is a product that is just simply the best. When you hear the name maclaren you know the product is perfect and you get what you paid for!

I bought this stroller for my daughter who is about 18 months old to replace the inexpensive umbrella stroller that I bought last year. It is compact, easy to fold, lightweight, has a nice storage basket and a large hood, and has a good neutral color scheme. It is made from quality materials and is definetly worth the price. The only con is that I would have liked a cup holder.
